overcoming the sense of urgencyJan 09, 2023
I used to have this pattern on Monday mornings.
First, I plan my week and feel an urgency to do everything all at once.
So I try to start taking action from panicking, and nothing gets done — just a bunch of half-completed work.
This morning, I could feel that urgent energy after I planned my week.
I planned to meditate and journal after I prepared my week, and my brain was like NO, you don't have time to do that. You need to get to work right now!
So I took a deep breath and asked myself: What's the rush?
That question reminded me of my 2023 intention: be patient and go slow.
So even though I felt SO much resistance, I plopped my booty down, meditated for 20 minutes, and self-coached right after.
And let me tell you - even though I resisted it, it was exactly what I needed.
As I write this blog post, I feel calm and present.
I know what I'm working on today and it feels already done.
I know how I want to feel at the end of the day, and I plan on approaching my day from that place instead of the usual frazzled.
It's amazing what happens when you slow down so you can be intentional about showing up for yourself and your work.
What about you?
What are you resisting that might be the exact thing you need to get you to the next level?
Bring awareness first, and then take one small step forward.
