Southwest has canceled over 8000 flights in the past week, and ours was one of them.

Instead of letting the last-minute change of plans consume me, I focused on what I could control.

My thoughts, how I feel, what I focus on, and how I show up.

I got to choose how I was to think about this circumstance.

I could be angry and think Winter Storm Elliot is out to get me and cancel all my fun plans.

Or I could think: I now have even more space to rest before starting the new year.

And you know what? I love second thought more.

It feels empowering.
I feel in control of my emotions.

Where do you feel like you don't have control right now?

Is it money?
Is it time?
Is it relationships?

If you feel yourself trying to control things you can't control,
ask yourself - where do I need to focus and attention to feel in control?

We only feel out of control because we blame external circumstances for how we feel.

Once we stop doing that, we take all the power back.
